Running the Race
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb. 12:1-2.

Starting the Race
We are so thankful to welcome our new Executive Director Patrick Clough and his family to Emmaus Worldwide. While much has already been said about Patrick in other communications, we are so excited for his vision, which starts with seeking the Lord for His will. As Patrick begins his race in this new role, we just want to share his answer to this question: “What excites you about Emmaus Worldwide?”

I am personally excited about Emmaus Worldwide because of what our materials contain - God’s Word. For over 80 years, Emmaus Worldwide courses and books have stood unashamedly on God’s Word. In a world that is continually shifting and so often moving away from the things of the Lord, I am so excited to be a part of a ministry that has at its core the desire to teach people the eternity-changing message of the Bible. This is why the staff of Emmaus Worldwide and I are passionate about getting God’s truths into the hands of people, from Peru to prisons to homes like yours. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 3:13-14)

Winning a race takes more than speed for a short burst of activity. Victory comes from discipline, wise pacing, and faithfully pushing forward with consistency. We are so thankful for those exhibiting this everyday faithfulness, going forward for the Lord as they share Emmaus Courses as part of their every day ministry. We are so excited to cheer for Esther Frey as she completes the last lap of her race for Emmaus Worldwide. For over 50 years, she has served faithfully in Puerto Rico as an Emmaus Director. We are so thankful that Esther has not crossed the finish
line, but has passed the baton to Brian Array. We look forward to continuing to support him as he runs the race.
Our prayer is for each of our ministry partners to see this ending to their race– that each would finish well, and to pass the baton to the next runner, until the Lord returns.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
